Fisherman Tales: Article from local press, 'Community New...
All At Sea On The Crested Wave Captain Mike and wife Pauline have run Genuine Fishing for many years aboard the Crested Wave and offer fishing for the experienced and novice angler. From the moment I approached kiosk 6 at the harbour entrance and spoke to Pauline I knew we were in for a great day, I only fish for compliments but Trish, the designer half of the partnership was once a keen sea angler and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to explore day trips for you, our readers. We left for our ½ day at sea at 9am, the sky was overcast but our day was soon to brighten up in more ways than one. Mike and his crew greeted us and spectators were made to feel just as welcome as the” fisher folk” Then as we were underway Mike ran through procedures as ½ of our time would be spent trolling with lures for big game fish and the rest of the time bottom fishing for other species. Just as Mike was finishing the first bite of the day took us all by surprise especially Trish as it was on her line! Alas she was not fast enough and the huge Amberjack got away. As the sun burnt off the morning cloud anticipation and excitement grew, Mike was on the deck peering through binoculars scanning the sea for tell tale signs of out prey, we were then treated to a bonus as a school of large Dolphins frolicked across the bows for a short while before playfully continuing on their never ending journey. The sea was calm and glistening and the gulls that circled above us were equally as vigilant as our captain. There were several nudges at the taught trailing lines and then the big one! Bill, on holiday from Nottingham jolted forward as his rod bent nearly double, he would need assistance to land this one. The crew strapped a harness around Bills waist to take the strain while he doggedly hung on; this monster was going to take some coaxing from 200 foot down on the ocean bed. After 20 long minutes the beast appeared on the surface, it was enormous,30 kilo of reluctant mussel and

Fisherman Tales: Your the best!
Hi Mick, As promised here is the comment for your site. After spending over 250 Euros on 2 other boats that promised the 'Ultimate Fishing Experience' I was glad it did not turn me off and that I booked a day out with yourself, you gave me exactly what you said! Ok we did not catch any very big fish on the trolling, but the Skipjack's and that fantastic, acrobatic Dorado where great sport, and as you said the bottom fishing was more productive, and good eating!!! You run a very good business and it was a pleasure to be in your and the crews company, Say hello to your Son Jack for me, he is a credit to you. All the best for the future, and will spend at least half my holiday days with you next time I am there. Victor. Ps. Did the woman who recorded me playing the Dorado send you the footage? if so I would appreciate a copy, thanks.

Hi Mick, As ever i had a great time on the boat, it realy is the highlight of my holiday. The crew never fail to disapoint as they work hard to find the fish. The stingray that i caught was discribed by other anglers on the boat as a fish of a lifetime, i think i agree as my arms were aching for days after. I have a photo at the side of my desk to remind me of those Happy days on your boat. See you in October. Alex & Donna

Fisherman Tales: February Fishing

Mick and crew,

Sorry it has taken me a week or so to get back to you, but I am getting back in the swing of working...Needless to say I would rather be back in Tenerife.  The 3 trips were awesome and I should be thankful that the weather turned or I would have booked until my account ran dry.  The blue shark is a hit with all my mates here on the project and I get a few tears from fishermen when I tell them about my final trip Saturday.  I will be back and will definately book again and again and again.  Maybe no karaoke the next time.  Once again thanks for 3 great days.

Regards,

Anthony

Fisherman Tales: Hello Mick

To Mick and the crew,

Thank you for the free tuna steaks. It was the first time we have caught a fish and ate it ourselves. Your tips on how to cook it where spot on and we even had it cold the next day with salad for our lunch.I am so pleased we decided to go out with you as it was a last minute decision and definately will do it again. You've got us hooked!

Chris and Victoria.

Fisherman Tales: Best thing we done!

To Mick and the lads, thanks a million. So glad we took your trip, you really gave us something to talk about when we came back home. After seeing it on the telly to actually do it for real was such a buzz! My Hammerhead shark photos have been printed out and sit on top of my desk at work and in the hallway in the house. Will definately see you again, and my friend Terry is thinking of having his Wahoo photo tattooed on himself, what a nutter. If he does it I will send you a photo.

All the best for 2010,

Paul Manning & Terry Watson.

I will ask my Son to send you the photos.

Fisherman Tales: Thanks for the days fishing
Dear Mick/John - Thanks for the trip on Wednesday, certainly beats knocking small carp out of a hole in the ground! We will definitely be seeing you again, hopefully the Marlin will be biting and the wife and stepdaughter can catch this time!

All the best. Cliff Dixon.

Fisherman Tales: Brilliant Day! - Caught lots of fish
Hello Mick & Crew, Just got back from the work after showing my mates the photos of the fish we caught with you and they were 'gobsmacked' especially the one of the Tuna. One of them is a mad carp angler and when he saw my photos it really shut him up about the 'Tiddlers' he catches, was worth it just for that.

Will see you again at Christmas, all the best, Marcus.
